Roslyn Harbor

Roslyn Harbor

The tiny village of Roslyn Harbor is located in the Nassau County town of North Hempstead. Anchored by the village of Roslyn, the Greater Roslyn area includes Roslyn Harbor as well as Roslyn Heights, Roslyn Estates, East Hills, Greenvale and Searingtown.

Located along Hempstead Harbor, this idyllic, affluent neighborhood on Long Island's North Shore Gold Coast was once home to sprawling estates and vast mansions belonging to some of the country's wealthiest families. These estates were subdivided to accommodate modern suburban living, but the homes that now occupy these former estates tend towards the luxurious even by today's standards, appealing to buyers seeking large expanses of land while still living close to New York City. Amid rolling hills, ponds and walking trails, houses in Roslyn Harbor most on one or two acres rank among the most expensive on the North Shore, with waterfront property being the priciest. Many private backyards boast a pool or a tennis court.

Roslyn historians have carefully preserved many historic buildings from its nearly 400 years as a community. The estates of William Bryant and Childs Frick are within the Roslyn area, and two neighborhoods are registered historic districts boasting architecture from the early 19th and 20th centuries. At the corner of Main and Old Northern, Roslyn's clock tower is a prominent and well-known local landmark.
